Restraint is not absence. It is direction.

In a category that has long been shaped by excess — by claim, by the multiplication of promises, by the chase of whatever ingredient is loudest in a given season — an institution is recognized as much by what it leans away from as by what it leans toward. This page records those directions: the editorial disposition of the house, the inclinations that inform how the work is approached, written, and sustained over time.

These are dispositions, not contractual prohibitions. They describe how the house tends to work — the bias that guides the decisions, even where any single decision may sit closer to the line. The discipline is in the direction, sustained.

01 — Language

Where the language tends.

The discipline of language is the foundation on which the other disciplines rest. The house's editorial bias is shaped by the literature it draws from — and informed by where that literature actually stands.

03 — Formulation

The formulation disposition.

Formulation involves many decisions — about ingredients, doses, delivery, presentation. The discipline of the house biases those decisions in certain directions, even where the specifics vary substantially from one formula to another.
