Learn what is thyroid and what can go wrong with it

THYROID GLAND

Thyroid gland is the largest gland in our neck, and one of the largest in the body in general. It is a butterfly-shaped organ located in the base of your neck. It releases hormones that control metabolism. The thyroid hormones regulate vital body functions, including breathing, heart rate, body weight, muscle strength, cholesterol levels and more. Bottom line, the thyroid gland is responsible for producing hormones that allow the cells in our body to function properly.

WHAT CAN GO WRONG WITH YOUR THYROID GLAND?

Thyroid disease usually causes one of the following disorders:

Hyperthyroidism
When the thyroid produces excess hormones and this is due to an increase in metabolic rate.

Treatment:
There are three ways to treat overactivity, and the decision will be made on a case by case basis by your Doctor.

  1. Medication - This is usually the initial treatment sufficient to control the disease. In most cases it is given for a period of at least one year.
  2. Surgical treatment - This treatment immediately solves the problem of overactivity, but involves complications associated with surgery itself.
  3. Treatment of radioactive iodine - a common, effective, simple and safe treatment based on the field of the thyroid gland using radioactive iodine administered orally. Most patients treated in this way will later develop hypothyroidism that can be easily treated.

Hypothyroidism

When the thyroid does not produce the minimum amount of hormones which causes the metabolism to slow down in different systems of the body. This is the most common thyroid disorder.

What causes sub-activity? Constipation , dry skin, accumulation of fluid, fatigue, weakness , hair loss, cold sensation, weight gain, circulation disturbance, and more.

What is the treatment?
Drug therapy - Regular injections of thyroxine in the form of pill.

It is important to treat these disorders and in return also relieve the unpleasant symptoms that accompany them, and also to prevent more severe conditions.

Nutrition For Hypothyroidism

  1. Soy based foods: This group includes dry and fresh soybeans (edamame), soy sauce, tofu, tempeh, soy flakes, soy protein, and soy foods.
  2. Foods from cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi, radish, mustard and turnips.
  3. Other foods: peanuts, spinach, peach and strawberries

These are the usual recommendations for people with hypothyroidism:

1. Limit the amount of cruciferous vegetables to two cups a week, one glass at a time.
2. Limit the amount of foods containing soy to 220 grams per week, 110 grams each time.

SUPPORT YOUR BODY'S METABOLIC RATE

USDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC & VEGAN

Codeage Iodine + USDA Organic (also known as nascent iodine supplement) is a high-potency, vegan liquid drops formula well known for thyroid support, energy & more.

Iodine is an essential nutrient that is vital for proper thyroid and adrenal function. Iodine deficiency can cause hypothyroidism which can manifest as low energy levels, dry skin, forgetfulness, mood swings.

Iodine has an important role in the functioning of the thyroid gland and hormones that regulate the body's metabolic rate. It also plays a role with the heart and digestive function, muscle control, brain development, mood, and bone maintenance. The thyroid gland functioning can also depend on the amount of iodine one gets from their diet.

Iodine deficiencies can lead to fatigue, weight gain, dry and flaky skin and more. Codeage Iodine + may help to replenish these iodine deficiencies with an all-natural, vegan solution.

HOW IS THYROID FUNCTION MONITORED?

THYROID ACTIVITY

When a thyroid disease is detected, when there is a suspicion of the development of such a disease or after its treatment, the doctor will perform a follow-up that will focus on the activity of the gland. This follow-up enables, on the one hand, to confirm or disprove the suspicions, and on the other hand, provides the doctor with a clear picture of the condition of the gland after one treatment or another. The activity of the thyroid gland is monitored by examining the level of three hormones produced in the thyroid gland: thyroxine, thyrotropin, and thyroid hormone. The amount of hormones produced - of each and all of them - will tell a doctor about thyroid activity, the possibility of disease development, and the causes
