The Longevity Code
Three probiotic strains. One prebiotic fiber. A formula built around the gut microbiome.
The gut microbiome is one of the most researched areas in modern biology. Trillions of microorganisms inhabit the gastrointestinal tract, and published research continues to examine the relationships between microbial diversity and various aspects of human physiology.
Codeage GLP-1 Probiotic+ features 500 million AFU‡ of live probiotics across three targeted strains — Akkermansia muciniphila, Clostridium butyricum, and Bifidobacterium infantis — paired with chicory inulin, a prebiotic fiber. Pillar 04 of The Longevity Code is focused on the systems the body relies on daily — and the gut is often considered a starting point for systemic wellness.
‡AFU count is measured at time of manufacture and may naturally vary over time.
Three strains. Each one studied independently.
This formula combines three probiotic strains — each of which has been the subject of published research independently, in the context of gut microbiology. Their inclusion reflects a deliberate formulation decision based on the diversity of the microbial ecosystem.
Note: The published research referenced throughout this page pertains to the individual strains studied independently. These studies did not evaluate this specific combination of strains, nor this product.
Akkermansia muciniphila
A gram-negative bacterium found in the human gut. Akkermansia muciniphila has been a subject of growing research interest in the fields of microbiology and gut ecology. It is understood to reside in the mucosal lining of the intestinal tract.
Clostridium butyricum
A spore-forming, anaerobic bacterium. Clostridium butyricum has been studied in published research for its role in the microbial ecology of the gastrointestinal system. It is a butyrate-producing organism — butyrate being a short-chain fatty acid found in the gut.
Bifidobacterium infantis
One of the earliest colonizers of the human gut. Bifidobacterium infantis has been the subject of published research examining its presence in the gastrointestinal tract from infancy through adulthood. It is among the most studied members of the Bifidobacterium genus.
Chicory inulin. A naturally occurring prebiotic.
Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers that serve as substrates for the microorganisms that inhabit the gut. Chicory inulin — derived from chicory root — is one of the most widely studied prebiotic fibers in the published literature.
A fiber found alongside gut microbiota.
Chicory inulin is classified as a fructo-oligosaccharide — a type of soluble fiber found naturally in chicory root, among other plants. Published research has examined prebiotic fibers like inulin in the context of the gut microbial ecosystem. Its inclusion in this formula reflects the formulation principle of pairing probiotic strains with a prebiotic substrate.
500 million AFU of live probiotics per capsule — measured using Active Fluorescent Unit methodology, which counts viable microbial cells. Three strains, balanced across the formula: Akkermansia muciniphila (166M AFU‡), Clostridium butyricum (167M AFU‡), and Bifidobacterium infantis (167M AFU‡).
‡AFU count is measured at time of manufacture and may naturally vary over time.
What the literature has explored.
Two areas of published research relevant to the strains in this formula — shared as educational context only.
"Akkermansia muciniphila has been the subject of published research examining its presence in the human gastrointestinal tract and its relationship to the mucosal lining. It has become one of the most studied organisms in the field of gut microbiology."
"Published research has examined the diversity of the human gut microbiome and its composition across different populations, age groups, and dietary patterns — establishing microbial diversity as a consistent area of scientific inquiry."
The studies referenced above were conducted independently and did not involve this product. They are cited here solely for educational context regarding the strains and ingredients discussed, and do not represent claims about the intended effects of this formula.
A microbial environment the body maintains every day.
The gastrointestinal tract is understood to contain trillions of microorganisms. Published research has examined this ecosystem extensively — and continues to explore the relationships between microbial composition and human physiology.
Mucosal Lining
The mucosal layer lines the interior of the gastrointestinal tract. It is the environment in which many gut microorganisms, including Akkermansia muciniphila, are understood to reside.
Microbial Diversity
The gut is home to hundreds of bacterial species. Published research has consistently examined microbial diversity as a characteristic of the gut ecosystem across different populations.
Short-Chain Fatty Acids
Butyrate, acetate, and propionate are short-chain fatty acids produced by certain gut bacteria. Clostridium butyricum is a known butyrate-producing organism studied in the published literature.
Prebiotic Substrates
Prebiotic fibers like inulin are classified as substrates — non-digestible compounds that reach the gut where they interact with the microbial environment. They are distinct from probiotics themselves.
